About Sabrina:

A Bay Area native, longtime New Yorker, and recent Los Angeles transplant, Sabrina Jacob Washburn is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. Her work with young people in various educational settings has ignited a passion for creating challenging work for emerging adults, as well as performances that span theatrical genres. She is a graduate of Emerson College and New York University, with thousands of hours of additional professional development training from world-renowned playwrights, actors, vocalists, clowns, and movement specialists. Today, she continues to work and study internationally with a diverse group of artists to explore new kinetic possibilities and investigate the cyclical nature of the audience-performer relationship.

What has informed all aspects of my work, more than anything else, is the desire to pull apart the fabric of the imagination from all directions. I am often less interested in linear narrative with a clear beginning and end; rather I seek to uncover the liminal spaces where time is soft and changeable and images reveal a deeper meaning. Trusting the play instinct and the inner knowledge of the body has been a huge part of this investigation, and thus my original work tends toward the physical and is driven by simple curiosities and mysteries.
